ZACH'S PLACE
'The Church Without Walls!'
"Where Jesus Meets
Us Where We Are!"
Zach's Place 2009
What's new and exciting at Zach's Place?
We are meeting at 23202 Doble Street in Torrance. Check the calendar section of the website for the dates of our gatherings. Over the past four months Zach's has been a place where 'walls' have been replaced with renewal and regeneration in the lives of the participants. We have discovered the power and presence of Christ in the midst of our gatherings. It seems that everytime we gather, God shows up and breaks down our 'walls', prejudices, fears, frustrations and moves us to a place of wholeness and completeness in our relationship with God and Jesus. These experiences have lead us to add a key phrase to Zach's Place: "A Church Without Walls!"
We invite you to come and join us if you are looking for a place where everyone is welcome and free to struggle to be in relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Come, bring your questions and concerns regarding Faith issues and open yourself to the opportunity to discover a whole new way to be in relationship with God!
See you at Zach's Place!
The purpose and vision for Zach's Place is laid out below.
The Who, What, When, Where & Why of Zach's Place!
The Why: During the past four years I have attended a National Pastors Conference in San Diego, with pastors from all over the world and from every form of the Christian community. One of the greatest issues that we constantly grapple with is how to reach today's culture with the message of Jesus Christ. Their has been a paradigm shift in the Emerging Culture in how they identify their needs. The Emerging Culture is not really interested in the"Great Commission" which has been the focal point of the
'Modern' church but rather take seriously the"Great Commandment." As a pastor trained for ministry,
I have always considered the Great Commission as the central core value and purpose of the church. Churches have focused on going out and making disciples since the time of Paul. Today's culture is seeking a spirituality and faith that can be seen, expressed and shared in tangible ways in the actions
of the community of faith. In short, the Emerging Culture desires a faith that isactive in Love for
Neighbor and God, not just a piety of love for God as expressed in words alone.
The What of Zach's Place: The first Christian Churches that were established and recorded in scripture were house churches. Zach's Place is modeled after the First Century churches as recorded in
Acts 2:42-47) Zach's Place will be about teaching who Jesus is, the breaking of bread, going out into
the world and sharing God's love by meeting the needs of our neighbors, worship and prayer.
Purpose of Zach's Place: To reach out to the community with the Living, Loving, Grace filled message
of Jesus Christ. The goal of the ministry is to address the needs of the Emerging Culture and
present the message of Jesus Christ by our actions. We hope to connect and challenge those who
come to grow in their relationship with Christ.
When & Where of Zach's Place: We broke ground on this ministry with a house blessing on Sunday September 9, 2007. We have moved from that initial setting to our new location at 23202 Doble Street
in Torrance off of Vermont between Sepulveda and 223 Street. Some of the things we have done since
our inception was collect food and clothing for the homeless, we made food and clothing baskets and
went out in the community and distributed them to the homeless. We are committed to reaching out to
the needs of our immediate community.
